PS5 soars in Japan after Sony’s stock issues are resolved

The PS5’s performance in Japan has been meme-worthy for a long time, but it’s fresh from claiming to have fixed system stock issues, and the console is running shooting lately. To be clear: it’s still a million miles away from the most successful Nintendo Switch — and that’s not even up for discussion. But she does Welcome Much better, which is worth pointing out.

From December 12 to December 18, the PlayStation maker sold more than 70,000 new generation consoles to consumers, which is a very respectable number. To put it in perspective, Nintendo has converted over 170,000 Switch systems, so it’s still Sony long Much behind us – but this is not the full stomping we are used to.

There are signs that software sales are improving, too. For example, this week’s big new release, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, sold best on PS5, with 54,522 units. In fact, all three versions of the game did quite well: the PS4 version sold 53,481 units while the Switch port managed 48,527 units – a very good result for Square Enix, by our estimation.

Sony recently promised that it had fixed the PS5’s stock issues, and said it would increase supply to its native Japan. That’s certainly reflected in the numbers, and it’s good to see the platform owner enjoying more success in his local area lately. Let’s hope you can keep these numbers moving forward.
