What will you play this weekend? (24 Dec)

I’m not likely to play anything with any major sequel over the Christmas period, but I recently downloaded Ghostwire: Tokyo on PS5, so I’ll likely jump into that where possible. The family is also almost guaranteed to get in on some Jackbox Party Pack celebrations at some point; You can’t beat a little Quiplash while letting your Christmas dinner work its way through your gut!

On Switch, I’m currently rebooting an oft-overlooked niche title called The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I heard there was some sort of sequel coming out in 2023, so I thought it might be a good idea to familiarize myself with the first game again.

Christmas is not a time for any hardcore narrative games in the Norman family, but party games? This is where we go hard.

This year, I think it will be all about the Switch (although if the Wii plays, as it usually does, I wouldn’t be surprised). There will definitely be some Super Mario Party, maybe some Just Dance, and I’m expecting a light splash of Nintendo Switch Sports for good measure.

When I can sneak myself in on short notice, I’ll continue to spoil aliens and jump off buildings in Into The Breach – you know, classic Christmassy stuff.

Like a lot of others here, I probably won’t dive in is very Lots of games over the long weekend, especially since we drove a few hundred miles to see family in two days! The chains’ echoes will continue to stay with me, and I’ll likely dive into Pokémon Violet and show some kids how to become a true Pokémon Master.

If anything, this week’s House of Indies added a slew of games to my wish list – and potential buy list. Melatonin and Sports Story (I still haven’t beaten Golf Story yet…that might have been my goal in 2023) are burning holes in my bag already. Most importantly, whenever I’m playing, he’ll be with a nice festive drink on hand. Have a great weekend folks – thanks for spending time with us in 2022!

Well, this weekend is Christmas, so I’m going to be playing everyone’s favorite game: making the big turkey dinner. When I’m not frantically spinning around planning and arranging, I like to sit with my Steam Deck, which I haven’t had much time to play with lately!

Also, now that I’m getting some time off, I really need to get rid of my unfinished game backlog. This includes, but is not limited to: Pokémon Scarlet, Hollow Knight, Strange Horticulture, and Rune Factory 4. I might as well run a GameCube to give Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life ahead of the new release next summer!

Making strides to complete the Front Mission 1st Campaign: Remake OCU, you’ll be jumping right into the USNC after the festivities are complete. A great introduction to Merry Switchmas with physical access to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Demon Throttle, River City Girls Zero, and Cuphead. A true Christmas miracle is in the eShop: Wavetale, Lil Gator Game, GyroBlade, The Rusty Sword: Vanguard Island, and Kaiju Wars are all making the holiday rounds.

Game of the week is Sail Forth. In fact, there’s a deeper sailing simulator than Wind Waker that I find incredibly hard to put down and is actually holding up my progress in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. What a trip it’s been… Have a great holiday everyone!

Like everyone else, I’m also playing a little bit of everything this Christmas. I plan to spend some time with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Wave 3 DLC pack, and while I’m at it, I might also check out the Chocobo GP Season 5 update.

Aside from this, I think I’m going to enjoy a round or two of golf when I finally get a look at the latest Nintendo Switch Sports update. And speaking of sports, last but not least, I’m going to spend some time with my latest standalone release, Sports Story. Happy holidays everyone!

Besides my annual festive trip to Freezeezy Peak, I plan to take time out on Christmas morning, sit with my kids, and introduce them to Icon. Something formative in the midst of video games. Something Is that true Simple to set on a good track with a solid foundation in the classics. Yes, I will try to show them pong across the excellent Atari 50 collection.

Will you get their attention? Will you enjoy more than a few moments? Will they take one look at the screen and start cheering Care Buy! Care Buy! Care Buy! in my ear? Very likely. But what kind of Christmas would it be if an elderly relative didn’t remember the good old days and carry everyone blind, right?

Best of luck everyone.
