Frank Lampard is ‘in big trouble’ but Everton urged not to sack him ‘whatever happens’ after Premier League defeat by Wolves continues Toffees miserable form.

Everton have been asked not to sack Frank Lampard despite the club being in more trouble after defeat to lowly Wolverhampton.

The Toffees were beaten 2-1 by their relegation rivals, with Rayan Ait Nouri grabbing the winning goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

The result saw Julen Lopetegui’s men move off the bottom of the table and occupy 18th place, one point behind 17th-placed Everton.

No doubt more questions about Lampard’s future at the club will be raised with Everton losing seven of their last nine games, but Talksport’s Dean Saunders insists the club’s senior officers must stick to their men.

“Obviously Frank Lampard is in big trouble but I’m not going to sack him no matter what. He’s trying to get this team on the right track,” Saunders said in a commentary to talkSPORT 2.

“They missed opportunities today, they should have won. Vanguard is not there.”

“They can’t keep changing managers,” Saunders added. “It’s ridiculous, they should give someone a chance to fix the damage done.

Frank Lampard knows he has to do it right and he will.

Everton could find themselves in the relegation zone by the end of 2022 with their next clash with Manchester City on December 31.

“I thought we played a good game, we were the better team and we had relative control over large parts in terms of possession and chances,” said Lampard.

“Unfortunately, if you’re not clinical, these things can happen in football and we get beaten in the end.

“(Lack of goals) is a concern as if you can’t be clinical, it’s difficult because it doesn’t give you a game that’s comfortable going forward for goals.

“It is obvious.”
