Top 10 Movie Trailers of 2022

2022 is drawing to a close, and as I have in the past, I’d like to take a look at some of the amazing movie trailers audiences have been treated to.

As has been said many times in the past… I love movie trailers. They’re an art in themselves because they have to strike a balance between getting publicity for a movie without giving away too much (the good stuff anyway). Hell, I still go back and re-watch some of my favorite trailers over the years.

Anyway… This past year, with theaters well and truly “again,” studios delivered a flood of trailers to get audiences back to their seats. It’s been a great year for impressive trailers and it’s made it harder to lower this list than it’s been in a while. Let’s go to her!

[Note: The list includes trailers that released in 2022, regardless if the movie itself has launched yet.]

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Teaser)

As always, there’s no official “ranking” on my list this year, but if it does, there’s no doubt the first trailer for Wakanda Forever will be at the top. This was a movie many fans were eager to see footage of, if only to see a glimpse of how the new story will deal with Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death.

Between the musical choices, the story hints, and our first look at Namor in action, this is a teaser that delivered on all fronts. While the second (full) trailer was also impressive, this teaser still manages to give me chills.

Halloween’s End (Teasier)

While the movie itself ultimately proves to be… well, an interesting set of choices, there’s no denying how awesome this first trailer for Halloween Ends is. As the promised conclusion to this trilogy, it does an excellent job of tying together threads from the previous films, while also hitting pitch-perfect nods to the classic. All this without really giving away the new plot but teasing Showdown fans wanted. Even watching it now, and knowing how the movie plays out, has me dying to see what happens next!

Jurassic World Dominion (Trailer 1)

Everyone knows I’m a sucker for dinosaurs and Jurassic franchise in general. So it shouldn’t be a huge surprise to see it Dominion Get a place on my list here. The first trailer for the “final” Jurassic World movie was delivered in several ways. Seeing dinosaurs interact with the “real world” is something I’ve wanted to see for a while. Combine that with some great shots of new creatures, and seeing all of the original cast together again, and my heart raced wildly when this trailer first came out.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Trailer 1)

I’m sure nostalgia, and my own fan nature, plays into this…but I’m pretty sure the first trailer for Mangold’s Indiana Jones The movie is better than the full movies I’ve seen this year. It’s just damn good. It manages to pack in the sense of fun/adventure that fans have come to expect, along with a great look at the VFX (Indy’s Younger!) that it wields. While the plot is still largely unknown, the humor sets the perfect tone and makes Harrison Ford seem more than ready to go.

Prey (Teaser)

This is, by far, the shortest trailer I’ve included here. So, in fact, I really debated whether or not I should include it. In some ways, however, this is a big factor in watching this teaser.

While it’s all very brief, our first look is at Dan Trachtenberg’s victim He does exactly what he needs to do. We get a glimpse of Naru running from something, and the tension is definitely palpable. Once this iconic triple-laser targeting kicks in, fans immediately know what they’re getting into. It’s a sexy “Legacy” style trailer that plays into fan nostalgia while clearly showing modernity. It’s all the excuse I need to go watch it again.

Nope (Trailer 1)

The first trailer for No He does everything right. In many ways, it works as a mini-movie on its own because it introduces us to the main characters as things gradually begin to unravel. What begins as a slow, subtle bit of banshee, builds to a crescendo of rapid cuts that tease out all sorts of terrifying visuals that you’re not quite sure you want to see in its entirety.

After watching the movie now and knowing it’s more of a creature feature than alien horror, it’s impressive to see how far this first look actually leans into those monster movies. He was in plain sight the whole time.

Men (teaser)

I’m always up for whatever Alex Garland wants to do. While the end result may not always work for me (as was the case with men), the ideas he offers and the general style of his story telling is always intriguing. The first Men’s trailer perfectly sets the stage for the popular horror crowd that’s been waiting for them. Between the constant sound effect of the echo and seeing Jesse Buckley being chased/stalked by something unknown, the trailer makes it clear that we’re on to something intense.

Creed III (Teaser)

On the surface, it is Creed III A relatively simple trailer, but something about it managed to pull me to another level. It’s not necessarily heavy on the action, but it does an excellent job setting the stage for this new chapter. In quick order, we’re introduced to a new character, giving us another glimpse into Adonis’ past life, along with the baggage that would ensue. By the end, you have your blood pumping and ready to get up and start kicking in doors. If the movie can hold its intensity, we’re on to something special.

Knock at the Cabin (Teaser Trailer)

Say what you will about M. Night Shyamalan’s movies, but you can’t deny that all of the trailers for his movies are incredible. The first trailer for Ring in the cabin It’s no different and does an excellent job of setting the overall tone, while being chilling in its own unique way. Things start simple and poetic but keep escalating from scary encounters, to home invasion, to talking about the end of the world. I’m not quite sure what’s going on, which makes the presence of these strangers scary.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Trailer 1)

via spider-verse It is easily one of my most anticipated films of 2023. The first spider verse The movie continues to be played in the house on a regular basis and never gets old. Thankfully, the sequel seems to expand on that and it will continue to be amazing in every way. Recently, fans were treated to the first real trailer for the movie, showcasing a host of new Spider-sonas, more impressive animation, and a good helping of emotional punches.

Like I said, there have been so many great trailers released in 2022, it was hard to narrow it down. food menuAnd the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3And the cocaine beerAnd the Barbieand even Super Mario Bros movie Some honorable mentions are deserved here, not to mention some of the STELLAR TV trailers we’ve seen (Andor And the The last of us immediately comes to mind). With some solid movies coming out in 2023, let’s cross those fingers, the trailers are equally epic.
