Shane McGowan of The Pogues appears to be in good spirits as he wishes his fans a Merry Christmas

He recently got home from the hospital just in time for Christmas.

Shane McGowan appeared to be in good spirits as he wished his followers a festive period on Christmas Day.

The Pogues boss, 64, shared a short snippet of himself waving to the camera, saying, “Merry Christmas everyone.”

Next to the video, he wrote on Twitter: Merry Christmas everyone and thank you for all your messages and prayers.

Shane went home earlier this month after spending time in the hospital fighting infection.

Fans were concerned when he was taken to the hospital, but his wife, Victoria Marie Clark, confirmed on Dec. 15 that he had returned home.

Irish journalist Victoria, 56, wrote to her Twitter followers: “Shane is home and we are going to watch football!

Wrapped warmly in the photo, which she shared to her 29,000 followers, Shane was wearing a soft hat, sunglasses and snuggled up in a blanket.

Shane, who has used a wheelchair since breaking his pelvis in 2015, has been in and out of the hospital in recent years.

Fans wished the singer, whose songs included Fairytale of New York, a speedy recovery, and hoped he would be home for Christmas.

Having the singer home means he’ll be able to enjoy his 63rd birthday – on Christmas Day.

Victoria previously updated his fans with a photo of the musician smiling from his hospital bed.

Along with the snap, she wrote, “Fingers crossed @ShaneMacGowan will be home tomorrow!” @tweet

Victoria gave fans an update on her husband’s health earlier this month, tweeting, “Doctors are confident he will be OK.”

Just wanted to thank everyone who sent well wishes to ShaneMacGowan, he is being treated for an infection and the doctors are confident he will be fine.

“I am so grateful to them and all of you,” Victoria wrote.

Victoria shared a photo of the musician smiling as she revealed he had been taken to hospital.

She tweeted: “Please send prayers and healing vibes for Shane McGowan in the hospital again and I really hope she gets out ASAP!! Thank you.’

One fan wrote below her update: “Not at Christmas the guy is the sound of Christmas… Hope he recovers quickly and not too much upset.”

Victoria told the Irish Mirror that Shane finds it “depressing” and wants out after accepting it.

She said: ‘I sure hope it comes out this week. It’s a little frustrating, I think. He finds it very frustrating… He wants out.

The couple has been together for more than 35 years and tied the knot at Copenhagen City Hall in Denmark in November 2018.

The intimate party was attended by their close friend Johnny Depp, who hosted the show.

The Irish singer-songwriter has been struggling with health issues since breaking his pelvis.

In 2021, he fell and fractured his kneecap, before tearing ligaments in his left knee, never fully recovering from the injuries.

He confirmed in April that he “couldn’t walk any more”.

He’s also been open about his battle with addiction, and in 2015 he had to get a full set of dental implants after decades of drinking and drugs destroyed his real teeth.

But just last week he seemed to be in good spirits when he delighted fans by joining TikTok, amassing 840,000 views for his first video.

In the 17-second clip, he says: “Welcome to Shane MacGowan on TikTok, I hope you enjoy. God bless, Shane.
