Social media users were shocked on Tuesday after finding out that Steps singer Ian H. Watkins was “blocked.”

The famous pop star, 46, used a tool to clean up his social media account, inadvertently resulting in thousands of followers not being able to see his tweets.

While some fans were horrified at the thought of being banned by the Tragedy Singer, others felt left out, now that #BlockedByHFromSteps has started trending.

Ian later took to Twitter to apologize for the mistake writing to a follower: “Hi James..I recently signed up to clean up ‘bots’ and ‘phobias’… I apologize if the ban offended us.. I didn’t do this manually! Birthday glorious.’

After the uproar, he then shamelessly shared a tweet by Oprah Winfrey announcing ‘You get a block! You get a block! Everyone gets a block!’.

After realizing they were both blocked, one fan wrote: “I loved Steps, I didn’t even know he was on Twitter!”.

While more commented: “His loss is not mine!” and “After I was exposed to #BlockedbyHFromSteps, I had a childish moment and banned him from coming back.”

Another shared a screenshot of herself being “forbidden” to write: “And I….”

In October, Ian shut down a troll who called him a “coward” for failing to have a male love interest in the 2001 video for It’s The Way You Make Me Feel.

The star shared with his followers that the original idea for the music video for This Is the Way You Make Me Feel in 2001 was taken from the 1988 movie Dangerous Liaisons.

Ian came out to fans six years after the release of the video.

This prompted one user to comment: ‘You could have had a male love interest. I chose not to. Don’t play hindsight when it was cheese.

Ian responded to the troll online, saying, “COWARD?? You mentioned that if I could change one thing about our videos, it would be to have a love interest! I’m not a coward

I was still dealing with my sexuality. It was also a completely different time to be openly gay.

I am now loud and proud of my life, my work, and my activism. Times have changed, but we still have a long way to go (even within the LGBTQI community — as this shows!).

Thanks to the amazing pioneers in our community, this generation can be their authentic selves.
